Youth found dead in Gomti river

Police recovered the body of a young man, who went missing on Saturday evening, from the Gomti River in Burichang upazila of Cumilla district on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ali 23, son of Joynal Abedin of Chanpur village in Debidwar upazila.

Sub-inspector (SI) Shahin Alam of Devpur Police Outpost in Burichang said Ali went missing on Saturday evening.

Locals spotted his floating body inside an embankment along the river in the morning and informed police, he said.  On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Cumilla Medical College Hospital for autopsy, the SI added.
