World Food Day was observed in Jhenidah with festive mode. Jhenidah district administration, Directorate of Agriculture Extension (DAE) and Food Department has organised the programme jointly.
Further, Agriculture Training Institute (ATI) in Jhenidah chalked out separate programme marking the day.
A colorful rally was brought out from the old DC office premises and ended at the same point parading the main roads in the town.
The day was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Saroj Kumar Nath with a view to a hunger-free world through nutritious foods and our activities.
A discussion meeting was held at the conference room of the DC with DAE Deputy Director GM Abdur Rauf in the chair.
Deputy commissioner Saroj Kumar Nath attended the discussion as chief guest.
Among others, ADC Arif Uz Zaman, district Livestock Officer Dr. Hafizur Rahman, acting district Controller of Food Hasan Ali, Bangladesh Krishak League Jhenidah district unit General Secretary Ashraful Alam and Agriculture Extension Officer Rokanuzzaman, also spoke.
The speakers urged upon to work together for safer food production and consumption to make the nation healthy.
Jhenidiah ATI organised separate programme to observe the day. A seminar on safe food was held at the auditorium with its principal Refatul Hossain in the chair.
Dr. Sunil Kumar Roy of Bangabandhu science and Technology University, agriculture extension officers Junayed Habib and Rokanuzzaman of DAE also spoke.
The trainees of Jhenidah ATI exhibited about 100 types of lucrative local and traditional food items including pitha (cake) that attracted the visitors, trainees and guests.
