A daylong workshop on 'Necessity and Prospect for Increasing the Production of Safe Mango through GAP and HACCP' was held recently in Gomastapur upazila of the district.
Bangladesh Mango Producer Merchants Association (BMPMA) organized the workshop in association with the Agro Product Business Promotion Council of the Ministry of Commerce at the conference room of Hogla High School of the upazila.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Komolaranjan Das attended the workshop as the chief guest while general secretary of BMPMA Md M Quraishi Milu presided over it. Former vice president of Chapainawabganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md. Monowarul Islam Dalim and former general secretary of BMPMA Md. Shukuruddin attended it as special guests. Former principal scientific officer (PSO) of Regional Horticultural Research Centre (RHRC) D. Md. Jamir Uddin spoke in the workshop as the resources person.
Different issues like production of chemical-free safe mango, increasing production through pest management and proper nursing, increasing facilities for exporting mango and mango-products came up in the workshop.
