Workshop on environmental education held

Research for Advancement of Complete Education (RACE) organised a daylong workshop titled 'Environmental Education Leads Sustainable Development' at Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Friday. 

The seminar started at 10:30 am at the teacher's lounge of the central cafeteria, where the Chairman of the Rural Assistant Foundation and eminent economist Dr Kazi Khalequzzaman Ahmed imparted the workshop.  

‘Economic, social and environmental development is collectively called sustainable development. Tangible development is possible by creating awareness through education. 

The status of sustainable development in climate change is worsening day by day. Due to increasing greenhouse gas emission, the temperature of the environment is increasing drastically and consequently the disasters also strike frequently’, said Dr Kazi Khalequzzaman Ahmed. 

The director of Wazed Miah Science Research Center Professor A A Mamun addressed at the workshop as special guest while Professor Md. Sharif Uddin of Mathematics department presided over. The speakers emphasized on education about environment, sustainable development, climate change and relevant environmental conservation matters. About hundreds of students from different institutions took part in the workshop.
