Workers’ Welfare Fund receives 2.8 crore as deposit

Mobile network operator Robi Axiata Limited, sewing thread company Coats and building materials manufacturer company LafargeHolcim Limited have deposited a sum of one tenth of their dividend from last year to the Workers’ Welfare Fund on Wednesday, reports BSS.

Chief Human Resources Officer of Robi Axiata ltd Md Faisal Imtiaz Khan, Director of Human Resources of Coats Mananita and Director of Human Resources of LafargeHolcim Limited handed over the cheques for Taka 2,84,76,000 crore, on behalf of their companies to Labour and Employment state minister Begum Monnujan Sufian at the secretariat office here, said a press release.

According to the Labor Law of Bangladesh, one-tenth of the net profit of a company is to be deposited to the Bangladesh Workers Welfare Foundation Fund. A total numbers of 146 multinational, international and local companies have deposited more than three hundred crore taka to the fund till now, added the release. More than ten thousand labors were provided with an assistance of a total amount of taka 32 crores from the fund so far.

Secretary of the Labour and Employment Ministry KM Ali Azam, director general of Bangladesh Sramik Kallyan Foundation Dr Rezaul Haque, director general of central fund Dr Anisul Awal and president of CBA Md Abdul Mannan were also present, among others, during the programme.
