Workers killed in paddy sack mishap in Jibannagar

At least two workers were killed and another worker was seriously injured when a paddy sack struck at Satta Agro Food, an auto-rice mill, at Piratala in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga on Wednesday.

The injured worker is undergoing treatment at Nasir Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex. The deceased was identified as Nizam, 39, son of late Rabiul Islam hailing from Piaratola village of the upazila and injured was identified as Nasir Uddin, 38, son of Ayub Mondal, hailing from Khairhuda village of the upazila.

Zafar, an eyewitness worker who worked at the Auto Rice mill said, "As usually we come to work in the auto rice mill every day. Nizam and Nasir were suppressed under the rice-hopper while they were  put paddy on Wednesday night at around 8am.

Later, they were rescued and taken to Jibannagar Hospital where the duty doctor declared Nizam dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jibannagar Police Station Ferdous Wahid confirmed the matter.
