Panna Khan, a woman councilor candidate of Shariatpur municipal election, which was held on January 16, arranged a press conference to protest against the change of results and rigging in the election at the SIIT office in Shariatpur town on Thursday morning.

At the press conference, Panna Khan said, "I was a candidate for the seat of the women councilor of wards no 7, 8 and 9 in the Shariatpur municipal election. My victory in the election was snatched through vote rigging. My agents were kicked out of the polling station by Emu Akhtar's miscreant gang”.

“The Returning Officer from the District Election Office first declared me the winner with 2,674 votes, while my nearest rival Emu Akhtar got 1,793 votes. Later, influential people of Emu Akhtar’s group forcibly changed the result and Emu Akhtar was declared the winner”, added Panna Khan.
