Winter vegetable cultivation in full swing in Manikganj

The vegetable cultivators of Manikganj district are busy to cultivate the various kinds of winter vegetables, specially the leafy vegetables, reports BSS.  Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said the farmers of the vast areas of the district already completed the cultivation of leafy vegetable such as radish, palongshak, lalshak, datashak, bean, bottle gourd, cucumber, lady’s finger, brinjal, cabbage and cauliflower are also being cultivated in full swing in all the seven upazilas of the district.

Meanwhile, the early cultivated vegetable is appearing in the markets. The cultivators are happy to get high price of their products. The sources said the land of Singair upazila and Saturia upazila are suitable for vegetable cultivation. Carrot is the main vegetable of Singair upazila of the district. More than 12,000 hectares of land was brought under vegetable cultivation in the district last year, the sources said. During the current season the cultivation of vegetable will be increased in the district, the sources also said.
