Vitamin ‘A’ plus campaign covers 4,44,021 babies in Cox's Bazar

The National Vitamin ‘A’ plus campaign was held in Cox’s Bazar on Saturday, feeding the vitamin capsule to 4,44,021 babies in eight upazilas of  the district.

Cox's Bazar Acting Civil Surgeon Dr Mohiuddin Mohammad Alamgir said 55,433 children aged from six to 11 months were fed blue coloured vitamin A Plus capsule while 3,88,588 children aged 12 to 59 months were fed red coloured capsules in Cox's Bazar.

206 health assistants, 211 family welfare assistants, 5407 volunteers and 216 supervisors is working in 1951 centres to feed the capsules.
Dr Mohiuddin Mohammad Alamgir said that about 98 percent of the children were fed Vitamin A capsules last time. Now, trying to bring 100 percent of the children under Vitamin A capsules.

He said every year the National Vitamin A 'plus campaign program has been adopted to reduce blindness and increase disease resistance.

Cox's Bazar municipality panel mayor and female councillor Shahana Akhter Pakhi inaugurated the program by feeding a child of vitamin A plus.
