The number of Covid-19 cases in the country is increasing as is the number of recoveries. In almost all countries of the world, the rate of recovery is increasing as time goes on. In Europe and the Americas, the rate of recovery is increasing over time. Compared to those countries, the death rate in Bangladesh is still low.

Considering the number of patients identified on Saturday, the 84th day of the pandemic, the recovery rate was 21.01 percent, which was 20.89 percent on Thursday.

However, a large number of coronavirus-infected people are receiving treatment at home. Many of them are recovering. That figure, however, was not available, but if added, the recovery rate will be higher.

On the other hand, Bangladesh has a lower mortality rate than in other countries with high rates of infection. Up to Saturday, 1.36 percent died out of the total number of patients identified in the country. The death toll as of Thursday was 1.39 percent.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), out of the samples tested on Saturday, 17.66 percent infection was detected. The rate was 21.89 percent on Thursday.

Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of DGHS, said most of the patients were receiving treatment from home. Most of the infected have mild symptoms. Those with moderate symptoms and complicated conditions are more likely to be hospitalized. Again, many are being hospitalized due to the problem of being isolated at home.

She emphasized on maintaining social distancing and adhering to hygiene rules to avoid the risk of coronavirus, and said not to touch the nose-face-eyes unnecessarily. Only your awareness can save you from the virus. The only way to stay safe is to use a mask.

According to the regular briefing of DGHS, the total number of people infected with the corona virus in the country stood at 44,608 as of 8 am on Saturday. Of these, 9,375 people recovered and 610 died.

India has the highest incidence of coronavirus in South Asia. The second is Pakistan. On the 83rd day of infection detection, the total number of infected patients in India was 20,473.

The recovery rate was 19.34 percent. On the other hand, the death rate was 3.3 percent. As of Saturday, the recovery rate in India was 47.5 percent. The death rate is 2.85 percent.

A total of 32,081 people were infected in Pakistan on the 82nd day of the infection (May 11). Out of them 8,555 people recovered. Until that day, the recovery rate was 26.66 percent.

The death rate was 2.20 percent. As of Saturday, the total number of infected in Pakistan stood at 66,457. The recovery rate is 36.3 percent, and the death rate is 2.1 percent.

On March 8, the first corona patient identification was announced in Bangladesh. From that day till May 2, a total of 8,790 people were infected. Out of them 17 people recovered.

The recovery rate was 2 percent. Till yesterday, on the 84rd day of infection detection, the recovery rate (hospital discharge) in the country stood to 21.01 percent.

Worldometer is providing updated information on the coronavirus situation in the world. According to their data, the total number of infected people in the world was 60, 56,021 till 5.30 pm on Saturday. Of these, 2,681,569 people have recovered and 367,305 people died. That means, the recovery rate is 44.27 percent compared to the number of infected people in the world. The death rate is 6.06 percent.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the death rate in Belgium is 16.2 percent. 15.6 percent in France, 14.3 percent in Italy and 13.9 percent in the United Kingdom. The death rate in the United States is 5.9 percent.

A joint report by China and the World Health Organization (WHO) found that people over the age of 60 and those with high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and chronic respiratory disease had a higher risk of death.

But the elderly, even the centenarians, have conquered Coronavirus. There is such a precedent in Bangladesh too. An 85-year-old woman returned home from a Dhaka hospital on May 8 after recovering from coronavirus.

On the same day, an 80-year-old woman from Baufal returned home after recovering. Earlier on April 30, a 80-year-old man from Badarganj returned home after receiving treatment at a hospital in Rangpur for nine days.

On March 30, the government's Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) said four patients had recovered that day. One of them was 80 years old and the other two are over 60 years old.

Late last year, the world's first coronavirus infection was detected in Wuhan, China. On February 28, the World Health Organization and the Chinese Joint Mission released a report on the Chinese infection, where it said it takes about two weeks for the infected person to recover from mild cases. And patients who have complicated or other critical illnesses take three to six weeks to recover.
