Verdict in the arms case filed against expelled Jubo Mohila League leader Shamima Nur Papia and her husband Mofizur Rahman Sumon will be announced today (Monday).
Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of Special Tribunal-1 of Dhaka will deliver the judgment at 2:00pm.
Additional Public Prosecutor Tapash Kumar Pal confirmed the matter to the media.
Earlier on September 27, on completion of the trial within nine working days, the judge set the date for delivering the judgment in the case. On February 22, anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members arrested Papia and her husband and their two accomplices from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).
They were nabbed while they were attempting to leave the country.
The following morning, RAB raided Papia's house on Indira Road in Farmgate in the capital. RAB team seized a foreign pistol, two magazines, 20 bullets, five bottles of foreign liquor, Tk 58,41,000 in cash, as well as credit and debit cards of different banks from the house.
An arms case was filed against the couple with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station on February 24.
