Use technology methods to boost agriculture sector: Experts

Experts have laid emphasis on technology-based data management system for boosting agriculture system through providing prompt solution of different problems faced by growers, reports BSS.

As agriculture sector is a vital one for national economy, it needs to be modernized incorporating communication technology oriented services, they told at a workshop on “Digital and Computational Agriculture and Data Management” at journalist Liaquat Ali Auditorium of Acharya Jagadish Chandra Basu Academic Bhaban of Khulna University (KU) here on Sunday.

Saskatchuan University of Canada and KU jointly organised the workshop in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture. Treasurer of KU Prof Sadhan Ranjon Ghosh addressed the workshop as chief guest with Prof of Agro Technology Discipline Dr. Sardar Rafiqul Islam in the chair.

Dean of Life Science School Prof Dr. Md. Raihan Ali, Dean of Science Engineering and Technology School Prof Dr. Uttam Kumar Majumder, Canada’s Global Institute of Food Security (GIFS) researcher Professor Dr. David Snider, Professor of Computer Science Department of the same university Chanchal Roy and Associate Professor Dr. Banani Roy, among others, also spoke on the workshop.
