The US Embassy here on Monday opened a new Education USA(EdUSA) Student Advising Center in Khulna as part of its International Education Week (IEW) celebration. The new EdUSA Center at the American Corner on the campus of Northern University of Business and Technology in Khulna will offer group information sessions and individual counseling services for students and parents at no-cost from 9 am to 5pm every Saturday to Thursday from now on, a press release said here, reports BSS.

The US embassy hoped that the initiative will expand US-Bangladeshi educational linkages in the important education hub of Khulna with its many educational institutions, it said.

The release said promoting educational exchanges between Bangladesh and the United States is a strategic priority for US Embassy Dhaka. “International education exchanges benefit both our nations and peoples, boosting intellectual and cross-cultural capital as well as business and professional networks, and helping prepare students to enter the global job markets and solve the world’s toughest challenges,” the release read.

The number of Bangladeshi students studying in the USA reached all time high as it increased to 8,249 during the 2018/19 academic year reflecting a 10 percent rise compared to the last academic year.

According to the 2019 ‘Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange’, the number is an all-time high for Bangladeshi students in the USA that is more than tripling since 2009, said the release.
