The government has started the process of changing designations and pay-scales of its employees, said sources in the Ministry of Public Administration.
Officials concerned said the Ministry of Public Administration has already sent a file to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) about the creation of new posts in the administration, promotion, and a proposal as well to raise the pay. The Prime Minister has also approved the related files. Besides, the Ministry of Finance has also given its nod.
It should be mentioned that this decision of the government has been made in response to the long-standing demand of the employees, who had been carrying out movement for the last 20 years.
Sources said, the standing committee on the Ministry of Public Administration earlier held several meetings to review the demands of the government employees. In those meetings, demands of the employees were discussed positively.
The officials said, primarily, the designations of the employees of 13th to 15th grades of the administration are being changed. Their salary scales are also being increased. At the same time, all the employees of the 11th grade will be upgraded to the 10th grade and they will be provided with all the facilities of the 10th grade.
If everything goes well, the government will insert guidelines in the next budget in this regard, the sources said.
According to the Ministry of Public Administration, posts of ninth-grade officers or section officers are being created in the offices of eight divisional commissioners of the country. Officials in this post get all the benefits of ninth grade, including salary and allowances, from the government.
Besides, the pay scale for the posts of chief assistant (Grade-14), treasury accountant (Grade-14), shorthand-typist cum computer operator (Grade-14), statistical assistant (Grade-14) and upper division assistant (Grade-15) I are being upgraded to the 13th grade.
At the same time, the designations of the CA cum upper division assistant (grade-13), shorthand cum computer operator (grade-13), chief assistant (grade-14), shorthand typist cum computer operator (grade-14) and upper division assistant (grade- 15) are being renamed as the Assistant Administrative Officers. Officials of all these posts will get salaries under 13th grade.
In addition, the designations of the officials of 13th, 14th and 15th grades, who are now known as the office assistant cum upper division assistant (Grade-13), shorthand cum computer operator (Grade-13), chief assistant (Grade-14), treasury accountant (Grade-14), shorthand typist, computer operator (Grade-14), statistical assistant (Grade-14) and upper division assistant (Grade-15) are also being changed to Assistant Administrative Officer. They are being upgraded to the Grade-13th.
Talking about the government decision, Ali Kadar, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, said, "We are working on the matter. The demands of the employees will be met through coordinated decisions.
“Approval by the PMO and the consent of the Finance Department in this regard have already been obtained. Work is underway to create new posts and change the pay scale in the field administration”, he said.
