Two young men have raped their two cousins for two days in a row by calling them from home and renting a house on the promise of marriage. The incident took place in Nabiganj area of Bondor upazila of Narayanganj on September 21.
On Tuesday (September 29), the raped two teenagers testified in court under section 22. Their statement was recorded in the court of Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Nurunnahar Yasmim. Both are under the age of 13. They are sixth grade students.
Earlier on Monday (September 28) night, after filing a case with the Bandar Police Station, the police arrested the two accused youths.
The arrested are Rifat, 19, son of Joy Miah and Rifat, 19, son of Ramiz Uddin. They are two friends and a resident of Fulhar area of Narayanganj Port Police Station.
The two sisters who were raped said that they met the two young men named Rifat at a wedding ceremony two months ago. Then a love affair developed between them via mobile phone. Assuring marriage on September 21, Rifat asked the two sisters to come to Nabiganj in Bondor upazila. Later they rented a house in Nabiganj for 1500 rupees. There, two friends raped the cousins. Then they stayed there for two more days without getting married. Then Joy Mia’s son Rifat left the girls at his mother Hawa Begum’s house in Kachpur.
Six days after the incident, the families of the two teenagers filed a case with the Bondor Police Station on Monday night (September 28) and the police arrested the two accused that night. Two separate rape cases have been filed in the incident.
In this regard, the plaintiff in the case said, two months ago, I met the accused at a wedding ceremony with my daughter and niece. From then on they had communication by phone. Based on that source, the accused called my daughter and niece and promised to marry them. After raping them, they left them at Rifat’s mother Hawa Begum’s house and fled.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bondor Police Station Fakhruddin said the two accused were arrested on the night after the case was registered. The two arrested accused have confessed to the crime of rape during interrogation. They were produced in court on Tuesday and later sent to jail on a court order. If anyone else is involved in this incident, they will also be brought under the law. We are investigating the matter.
