Two killed in truck-microbus accident in Faridpur

Two people, including a woman, were killed in a truck-microbus road accident at Kamarkhali in Faridpur. Five more people were injured in the incident.

The accident took place at Kamarkhali on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Faridpur’s Madhukhali upazila around 4am on Sunday (October 25).

The deceased were identified as Mosharraf Hossain of Alamdanga in Chuadanga district and Momena Begum of Chuadanga railway colony.

Abdur Rahman, sub-inspector of Karimpur Highway outpost, confirmed the matter, saying, “A truck heading from Dhaka to Chuadanga pushed a microbus carrying them from behind and the microbus got damaged. Later, locals rescued the passengers of the microbus and took them to the local Madhukhali Upazila Hospital. The doctors on duty there declared the two dead.”

He added, “Four of the injured are undergoing treatment at Faridpur Medical College Hospital and one at Madhukhali Upazila Health Complex.”

Sub-inspector Abdur Rahman added, “The suspect truck was seized, but the driver escaped. Police are still trying to arrest the driver and bring him under the law.”
