Two people were killed and seven others injured in a road accident at Mirsharai Upazila Sadar area of the district on Tuesday night.
The deceased were identified as Alauddin, 60, son of Delwar Hossain, a ward AL leader of MirsharaiSadar union and Mosharraf Hossain Milon, 30, son of DiptiHossain, also a Chhatra League leader of Mirsharai Upazila Unit, hailed from the same area.
The accident took place on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway at about 11 pm when a Dhaka-bound goods-laden covered van hit a mini bus from behind, leaving its nine passengers injured, said Ahsan Habib, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Highway thana police.
The injured were taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where Alauddin and Mosharraf succumbed to their injuries.
