Two killed in city ‘gunfights’

Two youths were killed in separate ‘gunfights’ with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Badda and Mirpur here early yesterday.

“One gunfight took place at Satarkul Panchkhola under Badda police station while another at Veribad (embankment) area under Shah Ali thana early yesterday,” RAB’s law and media wing assistant director Senior ASP M Mizanur Rahman told BSS.  He said Maharaz Khalifa, 40, accused in 29 drug-related cases, was killed in a gunfight in Badda at about 1:15 am Wednesday.  Law enforcement agency recovered 3000 pieces of yaba pills, a shotgun, shooter gun and magazine from the spot.  Meanwhile, Nazmul Hasan alias Byanga Babu, 38, second-in-command of the notorious terror ‘Shahadat Bahini’, was killed in another gunfight with RAB.
