Police arrested two people along with 35 kg hemp from Barishal-Dhaka Highway in Wazirpur upazila in Barishal early on Sunday.
The arrestees are Manir Bepari, 48, resident of Uttarkul village of Banaripara upazila and Khorshed Alam, resident of Saldoba area of Gazipur.
Enayet Hossain, assistant director of Barishal Narcotics Control Department, said that on secret information, a check post was set up at Echladi Toll Plaza in Uzirpur and then two people were arrested with the hemp while they were trying to flee in a private car.
The drug-carrying car was also seized, he added.
A case was filed against the arrestees at Uzirpur Model Police Station.
