Two EC staff placed on remand in Ctg

Two employees of Election Commission (EC), who provided counterfeit NID among Rohingya people, were place on seven-day remand on Wednesday, reports BSS.

The court of Metropolitan Magistrate Sarwar Jahan passed the order to place Abul Khair Bhuiyan, 45, senior office assistant at the EC’s Chattogram district office and Anwar Hossain, 45, office assistant at the EC’s Mirsarai upazila office on seven day remand each. Earlier, Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit arrested two employees of the Election Commission’s offices from their 

respective offices in connection with the distribution of counterfeit NIDs to Rohingyas this morning, said CTTC Inspector Rajesh Barua.
The investigating officer Rajesh Barua prayed for 10-day remand while the court granted seven-day remand.
