Two deaths, 253 Covid cases in 24 hours

Bangladesh reported two deaths and 253 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours till 8am Friday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The positivity rate was recorded at 5.06 percent after testing 5,002 samples across the country.

The country reported two deaths and 278 new Covid cases in the previous day.

The virus has killed 29,302 people and infected 2,00,66,899 so far, according to the statement.

The recovery count rose to 19,46,762 after another 933 patients were discharged from the dedicated hospitals during the last 24 hours.

From the beginning of the pandemic, 97 percent Covid-19 patients recovered among the infected people while 1.46 percent died, the DGHS statistics showed.

Among the 29,302 fatalities, 12,893 occurred in Dhaka division, 5,888 in Chattogram, 2,149 in Rajshahi, 3,730 in Khulna, 988 in Barishal, 1,337 in Sylhet, 1,423 in Rangpur and 894 in Mymensingh divisions.
