Two-day math conference begins at DU

On the occasion of the centenary of Dhaka University and the Department of Mathematics, a two-day International Mathematical Conference was inaugurated on Saturday at the initiative of the Department of Mathematics. 

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the conference as the chief guest yesterday evening, stated a press release issued by the university on Sunday. The VC thanked the organizers and eminent mathematicians who participated in the conference for organizing the conference to mark the centenary of the University and the Department of Mathematics. 

He hoped that by participating in the conference, the students-teachers and new researchers of this university would benefit and would play an important role in achieving academic excellence. The Vice-Chancellor called upon the teachers and researchers of the Department of Mathematics, Dhaka University to enhance the quality of mathematics education and research and make it world class.

Chairperson of the Department of Mathematics Professor Selina Parveen presided over the opening ceremony. Sameer Kumar Bhowmik delivered the welcome address. During the two-day conference, researchers from home and abroad will present papers on six scientific topics.

The conference is being attended by eminent mathematicians, teachers, students and researchers from home and abroad.
