Police arrested two people who reportedly gang-raped a sixth grader of a madrasa in Rajapur of Jhalakati district on Tuesday. The arrestees were identified as Sagar Khan, 18, and Hemayet Khalifa, 40. Family members said when the victim was standing alone in front of their house on Sunday morning; neighbors Jalal Hawlader and Sagar took her to Hemayet’s house in the locality where they raped her by turns.
They also threatened to kill her if she disclosed the matter to anyone. However, the girl narrated the incident to the family members and the girl’s mother lodged a case with Rajapur Police Station on Tuesday night. Contacted, Abul Kalam Azad, inspector (Investigation) of the police station, said two suspects have been arrested. “Drive is on to arrest the other accused. The girl has been sent to Sadar Hospital for medical test.”
