On Wednesday (November 24) under the direction of the National Board of Revenue and at the initiative of Tax Region-Rajshahi, National Tax Card distribution and Best Taxpayer Award bestowing ceremony was held.
The programme was organised at Padma Conference Hall of Kar Bhaban in Helenabad of Rajshahi to honor the best taxpayers of Rajshahi City Corporation, Rajshahi district and Chapainawabganj Districts.
A total of 21 (twenty one) best taxpayers were honored in 4 (four) categories (long time taxpayer, highest tax payer, highest tax paying female taxpayer and young male under 40 paying maximum taxpayer).
Ahsan Habib, Tax Commissioner (Appeal) of Tax Appeal Region-Rajshahi, Md Lutfar Rahman, Commissioner of Customs Excise and VAT, Rajshahi, Md Masudur Rahman Rinku, President of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rajshahi and Md Fazle Karim, President of Rajshahi Zonal Taxes Bar Association, Rajshahi and others present at the programme as Special Guest.
Among the award winners Md Abdul Awal, Md Erfan Ali, Syed Shaheen Shawkat, Pavel Hossain and Nurjahan Begum expressed their feelings during the programme. Md. Shafiqul Islam Akand, Tax Commissioner of Tax Region-Rajshahi presided over the function.
In his speech, the President of the programme urged all the taxpayers holding TIN to file their income tax returns on time as It is their social responsibility. He called upon the taxpayers to be partners in the development of the country by paying fair taxes regularly.
He mentioned that it is a matter of pride to fulfill one's responsibilities as a worthy citizen of the country through regular payment of taxes.
Bangladesh is now a role model of development in the modern world. Running on the highway of development, Bangladesh has now transformed from a low-income country to a middle-income country. The National Board of Revenue is playing a leading role in revolutionizing the socio-economic conditions by mobilizing various resources for the benefit of the people as well as through the implementation of various mega projects.
