Taka 346.8 crore development projects under Education Engineering Department is being implemented in Satkhira in the year of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Birth Centenary.
It is learnt, the government recently allocated more than Taka 350 crore for the infrastructure development of educational institutions in the district. Getting the allocation of the fund, now many multi-storied, concrete school and college buildings have been made and many others are under construction. Sheikh Russel digital labs have been established in more than 50 educational institutions of the district.
Sources of Assistant Engineer office of EED in Satkhira informed, on the Mujib centenary, development projects of educational institutions worth Taka 346.8 crore are going to be completed. Under the projects, works of 21 two storied buildings at a cost of Taka 30 crore under Satkhira EED have already been completed. Meanwhile, MM Zayed Bin Gafur, Assistant Engineer of EED informed, works of 14 academic buildings out of 40 at a cost of Taka 27 crore 97 lakh have also been completed while work orders for construction of 25 more buildings are under processing.
In Shymnagar and Kaliganj upazilas, construction works of two Technical School and Colleges at a cost of 30 crore 95 thousand are continuing.
While construction of 40 educational institutions under ' Selected 3250 Non-government School project' at a cost of 45 crore 46 lakh is going to be finished soon. On the other hand work orders of 30 'selected 3000 non-government school project' at a cost of Taka 99 crore 10 lakh have been given. Construction of three college buildings under Development of Post Graduate Colleges in District Headquarters have also been completed while the construction of a 100-bed girls Hostel of Satkhira Government College at a cost of Taka nine crore 67 lakh is going on. The construction of 10 educational institutions at a cost of Taka 62 crore 10 lakh under SESIP project has also nearing completion. Construction works of 24 madrashas at a cost of Taka three crore 44 lakh is also going on.
The work orders under 'Government college infrastructure Development and Science Education Expansion Project', for construction of a six storied academic building, a five storied student hostel and another five storied female students' hostel at a cost of Taka 2 crore 15 lakh have been given. Two more works orders of construction of Tala Bide Government High School at a cost of Taka five crore 87 lakh and Tala Shahid Ali Ahmed Girls' School at a cost of taka five crore 99 lakh have been given.
SM Abdullah Al Mamun, District Education Officer of Satkhira said, due to want of buildings, students of many educational institutes failed to attend their classes at a congenial academic environment. Now, after completion of the buildings and supplying of required furniture the students will be able to attend their classes with satisfaction of their mind.
SM Mostafa Kamal, deputy Commissioner of Satkhira informed, to make the aim and objective at the Mujib Birth centenary 'The villages will turn to towns' , development works are going on under education department in Satkhira in a full swing.
After the completion of the development projects at a cost of nearly Taka 350 crore, more than one lakh students of the district will enjoy a developed and congenial academic atmosphere of education. He said, ' Clean Campus- Green Campus' should be built in all educational institutions with the help of teachers, students and their guardians.
