Tk 3.17 cr allocated for flood victims

With a view to mitigating woes of the flood-affected people in major flood affected areas in the country, the government has given Taka 3.17 crore to the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry, reports BSS.

According to a report regarding natural disaster of the National Disaster Response Co-ordination Centre (NDRCC), 21,350 tonnes of rice, 84,000 packets of dried food and 7,500 tents have also been allocated for the flood victims.

The report said that, till now 135 shelter centers in Bandarban, 12 in Lalmonirhat, 80 in Sylhet, 95 in Gaibandha, 8 in Habiganj, 150 in Netrakona, 195 in Khagrachari, 409 in Kurigram have been opened.

“In order to tackle the overall flood situation, the health department has formed 1,368 medical teams to provide the victims with necessary medication”, Assistant Director of the Health Emergency Operation Centre and control room Dr. Ayesha Aktar confirmed that.

She also said that adequate drugs including IV fluids, water purification tablets, anti snake venoms, oral saline and other necessary medical supplies were stored centrally in Dhaka and at upazila levels along with 20 percent extra reserved medicines in Central Medical Stores Depot (CMSDC).
