Throat slit bodies of four members of family found in Cox’s Bazar

Throat slit bodies of four members of a family were found at a home of a Kuwait-based migrant worker at Ukhia upazila in Cox’s Bazar on Thursday.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ukhia Police Station Abdul Mansur said that the incident took place at Purboratnap along village under Ratnapalong union on Wednesday night.

The bodies were identified as expatriate Roken Barua’s mother Sukhibala Barua, 65, his wife Mila Barua, 29, his son Robin Barua, 2, and his niece Sony Barua, 9.

Local people spotted the bodies at their house and informed police who recovered the throat-slit bodies at about 7:30 am.

Chairman of Ratnapalong Union Parishad Khairul Alam Chowdhury said that the door to the single-storey house was locked from the inside. The house has a stairway inside which leads to the roof. It is possible for the assailants to have escape through the roof after committing the crime,”

OC said that the reason behind the killing was still not clear. The bodies have been sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Cox's Bazar Kamal Hossain, Superintendent of Police (SP) ABM Masud Hossain, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Ukhia Nikaruzzaman Chowdhury, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Iqbal Hossain, ASP (Ukhia circle) Nihad Adnan Tian visited the spot.
