Symon Sadik is a popular actor who is regularly working in films. He is getting the National Film Award for Best Actor for the film ‘Jannat’. The actor spoke to Bangladesh Post about his awards and other contexts. Written by A Mizan
You are receiving the National Film Award; how do you feel?
Words cannot fully expess my feelings. Ever since received the news I have been incredibly happy. This is the best achievement in my short life.
Your career in film is not very long. Were you expecting to receive the National Film Award in such a short time?
It didn’t really look like that before I started working in Jannat. Later, after finishing the task, I thought that it was something which suited my mind. Since the beginig I received positive feedback from everyone. Everyone except me had much experience in films. After the release of my first movie ‘Ji Hujur’ in 2012, several jury board members saw the film and praised it. After I met them, they were saying that maybe you could get the National Film Award for that film. However, I am more than happy to finally be awarded for ‘Jannat’.
You are jointly being awarded with Ferdous. Are you 100 percent happy about this?
Of course I’m 100 percent happy. This is the biggest thing I have ever received. And Ferdous is a very good artiste, actor. He is one of my many seniors and my very favorite actor. It was a great honor for me to be rewarded with him. Ferdous is everyone’s favorite, so I am particularly pleased to receive the award with him.
This time, many have been criticizing the National Film Award. How do you see the matter?
It’s a much bigger platform. Since it is a national issue, it is only natural that there will be much discussion and criticism behind big issues. Those who did not receive the prize I believe are also deserving of the prize. But it is not possible to reward everyone. Maybe we got a reward for getting a little more numbers. Those who did not get the reward of doing good things in the future will receive this. I bid them good luck and they have my respect.
You started working for a film titled ‘Ananda Asru’ a long time ago. Why hasn’t it finished yet?
The shooting was stopped due to the complexity of schedule. After the complexity of the schedule has been overcome, shooting will again start within the next 27 and 28. Then there will be only two songs left. I am very optimistic about this movie. The name of the film is taken from the film of the beloved hero Salman Shah, but this film is being made with an original story. The whole team of ‘Jannat’ is working on this movie.
Tell us about other movies-
The films ‘Amar Ma Amar Behest’ and ‘Gopon Shongket’ are half done. Other than this, dubbing of ‘Bahaduri’ has been completed. All in all, I am working in 6 films.
