The power of innovation

We have all heard about the stories of our parents and grandparents of the late 1950s or so and we all can relate that “20 kilometers of walk to school” story which was exaggerated so much it seemed like a sequel to “around the world in 80 days” by Jules Verne.

Yet we can proudly say that in the new generation we don’t have those 20 kilometers of walk now, instead there are huge man-made automobiles doing the job of 20 kilometers for us! Just in a span of two decades our civilization went from wired-landlines to 6’inch display smart phones with the power of a full-fledged computer. It is quite interesting.

Isn’t it? To spark more of these innovations that lead to dreams becoming a reality, people all over the world are now sharing ideas and encouraging those with the resources to build a new world, a world made  by mankind.

Mankind has reached the peak of their creativity and innovation growth in the last few decades and there are higher goals to achieve as new ideas are born everyday.

It is a known fact that these ideas did not just pop out of thin air but it took us thousands of years to create a civilization from scratch. “The power of creativity and imagination is what separated us from other species and let us dominate the top of the food chain”.

Yuval Noah Harari in his book ‘Sapiens: A brief history of mankind' discussed the fundamentals behind this theory.  Our ability to ask a question and find it’s answers is what made us dominate the world out of all the species that inhabited it and this led us to establish ourselves as separate part from animal kingdom to our own kingdom of mankind.

Within 6,000 years of civilization many intellectual individuals known as philosophers and scientists began to ask questions about the nature of this system leading to new theories and innovations by mankind, from learning how to make stone spears to iron machine guns and from homeopathic medicines to studying the biology of the brain itself and consciousness.

We sure have come so far in uncovering the secrets to creation and narrowed the gap between fiction and reality. If we were to discuss about how our innovation sparked it only came from ideas based on the surrounding environments and experience at the very first stage of evolution as it is important for any living being with a consciousness to survive.

What is consciousness? It has a lot of theories made by different individuals but there is no confirmed data on it. Anil Seth explained that “consciousness can be explained in two categories :

The world, environment, smell, sound, touch and experience of the surroundings that build up this reality.

Self : The awareness of oneself created by the brain of its best guess

The definition of self seems a little bit of topic but If you hear about his theory of the “Best guess by brain” You are more likely to understand.

The best guess theory is what explains the self-awareness part of consciousness. Our brain takes thousands of data on sense, smell, vision and other sensory data to systemize them in such a way so we can understand, experience and feel it. But the brain itself can’t see the world. So every data and information it takes in is processed and relayed to you on it’s best prediction of what is happening in the outside world as he explained more in details about the circuits of it.

Innovation is what brought power to mankind, the ability to think and have an idea is what made us so special. Yet all of these gifts we have received, we never took a moment to look at the present state of the environment around us did we?

These days all of us are now blinded in a constant system of hatred, negativity and clashes within ourselves. We have now descended to the state where as William Winwood Reade quoted “Men prefer to believe that they are degenerated angels rather than elevated apes”.

The reality mankind intended to create is slowly heading to another unknown destination where the new ideas will be mocked by society and hypocrisy will reach new heights such symptoms are already in practice by mankind and being taught to younger generations to carry it. History has proven that a negative society is what eliminates the idea of a brighter future created by younger people to distribute the authority to unreliable individuals.

Hoever, nature has given us time to sit back and take a look at ourselves during this pandemic in an effort to make humanity realize it’s true colors. It is time to test if mankind can innovate an idea to bring all of its flaws in the mankind kingdom to an end or not? I will ask all of you a question that might spark a new idea to reorganize this system “Who are you?” only those who know the answer shall hope to find the question from which this puzzle of mankind’s kingdom be solved.
