Taposh, Atiqul, Salim collect nomination for city polls AL starts selling nomination

Ahead of the Dhaka North and South City Corporations polls, incumbent mayor Atiqul Islam has collected nomination paper for mayoral post of DNCC polls.

Besides, two lawmakers Fazle Nur Taposh and Haji Mohammad Salim have collected nomination paper for contesting to the mayoral post for the DSCC elections.

The city polls are scheduled to be held on January 30.

Aspirant mayoral candidates on Wednesday collected their nomination paper from Awami League president party office at Dhanmondi.

At around 3:00pm on Wednesday, personal secretary of mayor Atiqul Islam Saifuddin Emon and younger brother Abu Mahmud Khan collected nomination for contesting mayoral post in DNCC polls.

At the same time, uncle of Fazle Nur Taposh, Masud Sherniabat has collected nomination from the AL office for DSCC election.

Besides, lawmaker Haji Mohammad Salim and local AL leader Nazmul Haque have also collected nomination for contesting mayoral post of DSCC polls.

The ruling AL has started selling nomination paper from today which will continue till Friday. Tk 25,000 has been fixed as fee for collecting nomination for mayoral post.

Meanwhile, after completing collection of nomination forms, AL local government nomination board will finalise the candidates of two city corporation polls.

The commission will hold DNCC and DSCC polls on January 30. Electronic voting machines (EVMs) will be used at all centres in the city corporation polls.
