Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has lauded the rapid development and progress of Bangladesh in socio-economic sector, hoping that the existing excellent ties between the two brotherly countries would enhance in the days to come. Welcoming Bangladesh President M Abdul Hamid, who is now on an official visit in Dushanbe to attend the 5th Summit of Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures (CICA), at his office on Thursday night, President Rahmon expressed his eagerness to work together on counter-terrorism and comprehensive operations, reports BSS.
He also expressed his keen interest in work of a joint-venture to further promote readymade garments (RMG) sector terming it as very potential one, President Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told the state news agency on Friday. Referring to boost trade and commerce, Rahmon stressed the need for high-level visit-exchange, particularly among the business leaders of the two countries.
During the meeting, President Hamid sought cooperation from Tajikistan in resolving the Rohingya crisis and his Tajik counterpart assured him of providing all possible helps in this regard. The head of the state also urged Tajikistan to import readymade garments, medicines, jute and jute products from Bangladesh mentioning that Bangladesh produces world-standard products.
President Hamid said Bangladesh always shows zero tolerance policy against terrorism and militancy. Both the leaders hoped that the two countries would work together for sustainable development and progress. Abdul Hamid mentioned that Bangladesh and Tajikistan support each other and expressed common opinion in different issues both in regional and international forums.
Earlier, President Abdul Hamid reached Tajikistan capital Dushanbe at 9:52 pm (local time) Thursday night. Foreign Minister Dr AK Abul Momen, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Secretary Biletral and Consular Kamrul Ahsan, diplomats, and secretaries concerned, among others, were present there. President Hamid who is on a seven-day visit to Tajik capital Dushanbe and Uzbekistan is scheduled to return home on June 19.
