Sylhet District Football Team advanced into the semifinal of the Ninth Bangabandhu Bangladesh Games. In A –Group encounter, the Sylhet side beat Bangladesh Army Football team by 2-1 Goals at the Bhasha Shoinik Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla on Monday.
In the day's match, forward Farook put Sylhet ahead in the 7th minute while Jillur doubled the lead scoring the second goal in 25th minute of the outings.
After the resumption, Tarek reduced the margin for Bangladesh Army. He netted the ball into the back of Sylhet’s net in the 54th minute.
Bangladesh Army will now take on BKSP in the first semifinal while Sylhet Football team will face Sathkhira Football Team in second semifinal encounter during 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm respectively at the same venue on Tuesday.
A total of ten teams, eight district teams along with BKSP and Bangladesh Army, are taking part in the meet, jointly organized by Bangladesh Football Federation and Bangladesh Olympic Association.
Men's football teams (grouping):
Group A - Netrokona district, Bangladesh Army, Sylhet District, Pabna district and Khulna district.
Group B - Rangpur district, Cumilla district, Cox's Bazar district, Satkhira district and Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan.
