A leader of Swechchhasebak League named Masudur Rahman Shuvro was hacked to death by miscreants at Madhyabazar area under Gauripur upazila in Mymensingh at about 10:30 pm on Saturday night.
Shuvro, a resident of Kalipur area of Gauripur municipality, was the general secretary of Gauripur upazila unit of Swechchhasebak League and chairman of Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDP).
Gauripur Police Station OC Borhan Uddin confirmed the matter.
He said miscreants attacked Masudur Rahman with a sharp weapon when was on his way home from his political office in Madhyabazar. On information, police went to the spot and sent Masudur Rahman to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where he died at around 12:00am at night.
Four people, including local UP Chairman Riaduzzaman Riyad, were held over the murder.
