Sustainable dev can be food security solution in future: Experts

Speakers at a webinar on Saturday said the climate-sustainable development should be the future food security solution in the changed world.

Abu Zafar Ahmed Mukul, Assistant Professor, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, presented a  The discussionstyled "Climate Change and Food Security in Corona Period" was organized by’ Agamir Bangladesh’, an organisation in the Virtual Session .

Dr. Kazi Khaliquzzaman Ahmed, Chairman, PKSF attended the discussion as chuef guest while Jahangir Alam Khan, Vice-Chancellor, University of Global Village, Dr. Md. Abdul Mueed, Director General, Department of Agricultural Extension and more.  Ranjan Roy, Researcher and Associate Professor, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University also attended as penalists.

In his introductory speech, Abu Zafar Ahmed Mukul, Assistant Professor, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, highlighted the issue of food security for about 160 million people due to epidemics and natural disasters.

Dr. Qazi Khaliquzzaman Ahmad, Chairman, PKSF, highlighted how food insecurity can be reduced and climate change mitigated during the Corona period.

Renowned economist said. Dr. Jahangir Alam Khan, Vice-Chancellor, University of Global Village will raise the issue of food security in Corona.

Dr. Md. Abdul Mueed, Director General, Department of Agricultural Extension will highlight the various steps taken by the government during the Corona period.

 Dr. Ranjan Roy, Researcher and Associate Professor, will give a presentation on session.

Leaders of the affiliated organizations and experts on various topics, including honorary members of the platform's core group, also shared their views. 

The dialogue was attended by prominent civil society figures including government officials, youth representatives, NGO representatives, private sector entrepreneurs, social workers, professionals and media workers.

Speakers on the occasion requested for establishment of Good Agricultural Practice (GAP), Processing Zone for efficient export of agricultural products, skilled recruitment of manpower of the Department of Agricultural Marketing, provision of incentive package for agriculture related persons including farmers and extension officers, administration for improved seeds of BADC.
