Fear around the global pandemic coronavirus can bring out the worst in people, but it can also provide inspiring examples of people choosing to be kind and help needy corona-affected people.
A madrasa student from Joypurhat, Takibur Rahman Nahin has set an example of humanity and donated his scholarship money in the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund to help the people who are in need and lost their livelihoods due to COVID-19.
Nahin donated Tk 3,000 at Joypurhat Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zakir Hossain’s office on Wednesday afternoon. Takibur is a class 8 student in city’s Siddiquia Kamil Model Madrasa.
He is the son of Ashadur Rahman of ProfessorparaMahalla in Joypurhat town. Nahin received a scholarship in the Ibtedayi final examination in 2017. He said, “Madrasa is closed due to coronavirus, I am sitting at home and every day in the television I watch that the number of coronavirus patients in Bangladesh is increasing.
Administration is forbidding people from leaving their houses but helpless people are not able to work and are spending their days without food.”
Nahin said he felt that in the current situation, the 3,000 taka he had should be given to help the needy people. That is why he donated the money in Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund.
Joypurhat Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zakir Hossain said, “The way he came forward to help the needy with his scholarship money has really inspired us.” He further added that, “Nahin’s donation sends a strong message to the rich people in our society.”
