Stress on building trust on insurance

A daylong workshop on insurance was held in Rajshahi Monday aiming to create mass awareness among the people.

The training workshop titled “Raising Awareness regarding Insurance” was held at Shilpakala Academy auditorium with initiative of Bangladesh Insurance Sector Development Project (BISDP), reports BSS.

In the technical session, Professor Shah Azam Shantunu from Department of Marketing in Rajshahi University (RU) presented two papers on ‘Fostering Insurance Awareness among the Masses’ and ‘Role of Insurance Sector in Economic Growth of Bangladesh Present Scenario and Future Potentials’. Hossain also presented a paper on ‘Building Insurance Awareness through Micro, Health and Agriculture Insurance’.

Commissioner of Rajshahi division Nur-Ur-Rahman addressed the workshop as the chief guest while BIA Director Amzad Hossain, Dean of RU’s Business Administration Faculty Prof Humayun Kabir and Managing Director of Sadharan Bima Corporation Syed Shahriar Ahsan spoke as special guests with Member of Insurance Development and Controlling Authority (IDCA) Dr Mosharraf Hossain in the chair.

IDCA Executive Director Kazi Monwar Hossain, BISDP Director Nayeb Ali Mondal, Deputy Project Director Masudur Rahman and Deputy Secretary of Financial Institution Division of the Ministry of Finance Iftekhar Hossain also spoke on the occasion.

Nur-Ur-Rahman said insurance sector is considered as an important component for sustainable economic development of the country. It (insurance) plays a very important role in lowering risks of financial sector.

Nayeb Ali Mondal said the government has taken an initiatives to strengthen and expand the country’s insurance sector for boosting economic development in the country alongside ensuring financial security of the people.
