Stocks rebound on both bourses

After witnessing a downward trend in the last session, stocks on Tuesday rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues. 

After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 14.52 points or 0.23 per cent to settle at 6,212.45. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rising 9.08 points to finish at 2,200.68 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advancing 4.84 points to close at 1,359.43. 

However, daily trade turnover plunged to Taka 3340.37 million on the country's premier bourse which was Taka 4167.53 million at the previous session of the week. 

Gainers took a strong lead over the losers, as out of 319 issues traded, 63 advanced, 15 declined and 241 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

ADVENT was the day's top gainer, rising 9.66 per cent, while ORIONINFU was the worst loser, shedding 7.50 per cent. 

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -gaining 10.48 points to settle at 18,318.91 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX rising 6.68 points to close at 10,975.11.

Of the issues traded, 26 declined, 28 advanced and 82 issues remained unchanged on the CSE. 

The port city's bourse traded 11.56 lakh shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Tk 10.02 crore.
