Stocks perform mixed on higher transactions

Stocks Wednesday performed mixed with slightly downward trend of major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges on lower activities of large-cap securities despite higher transactions.

The daily trade value increased to Taka 380.60 crore from Tuesday’s Taka 317.07 crore and the volume rose to 16.77 crore shares from 12.77 crore shares of the previous session, BSS reports.

The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 0.46 points down at 5,077.29. The Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 3.90 points down at 1,160.82. But, the blue-chip DS30 also closed the day with 2.08 points up at 1,816.70.

At DSE, out of the day’s 353 securities, prices of 143 securities closed higher against 178 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were ICB3RDNRB, SEMLFBSLGF, SEMLIBBLSF, CAPMIBBLMF and PHPMF1. The major losing issues were HEIDELBCEM, VAMLBDMF1, VAMLRBBF, Delta Spinning and MI Cement.

Square Pharma topped the turnover list followed by BSC, UPGDCL, Fortune and Beacon Pharma.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 6.70 points up at 15,520.21.

At CSE, 275 issues were traded. Of those, 126 closed higher and 134 closed lower when 78.33 lakh shares worth Taka 16.69 crore changed hands.
