Stocks perform mixed on higher transactions

Stocks on Monday performed mixed with slightly upward trend of major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges on higher transactions.

The daily trade value increased to Taka 351.44 crore from Sunday’s Taka 328.91 crore and the volume rose to 11.99 crore shares from 10.86 crore shares of the previous session, said a press release.

The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 0.22 points up at 5,253.55. The blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 2.93 points up at 1,828.30. But, the Shariah DSES closed the day with 1.09 points down at 1,189.09.

At DSE, out of the day’s 347 securities, prices of 107 securities closed higher against 175 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were national Life Insurance, Standard Ceramics, MIDASFIN, GSP Finance and Prime Life while the major losing issues were Prime Finance, Monno Ceramics, Dulamia Cotton, Global Insurance and Agrani Insurance.

Square Pharma topped the turnover list followed by New Line Clothing, National Life Insurance, ECABLES and Uttara Bank.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 18.02 points up at 16,017.51.

At CSE, 234 issues were traded. Of those, 84 closed higher and 105 closed lower when 72.25 lakh shares worth Taka 15.70 crore changed hands.
