Stocks maintain gaining streak

Country's both bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today also witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 17.17 points or 0.28 per cent to settle at 6,232.29. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 12.73 points to finish at 2,202.39 and 9.89 points closing at 1,363.99.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 3397.37 million on the country's premier bourse which was Taka 3,238.03 million at the previous session of the week.

Gainers took a modest lead over the losers, as out of 312 issues traded, 50 closed green, 43 in the red and 219 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

AAMRANET was the day's best performer, posting a gain of 9.97 per cent while ORIONINFU was the worst loser, losing 7.49 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -advancing 62.56 points to settle at 18,402.24 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX gaining 37.77 points to close at 11,025.45. Of the issues traded, 30 advanced, 25 declined and 76 remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city's bourse traded 40.90 lakh shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Taka 17.58 crore.
