Stocks close week flat

Stocks Thursday closed the week flat with falling trends of all major price indices at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and slightly upward trend in the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE).

The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 10.92 points down at 5,275.83. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 19.23 points down at 1,851.35 and with 4.67 points down at 1,220.31 respectively, BSS reports.

During the week, the daily average trade value increased by 25.60 percent to Taka 428.96 crore and the average trade volume rose by 46.20 percent to 12.71 crore shares.

Out of the 353 issues traded on DSE, 152 gained against 179 losing issues.

The top five gainers of the week were National Feed Mill Limited, SS Steel Limited, Olympic Accessories Limited, Provati Insurance Company Limited and Esquire Knit Composite Limited.

The major losing issues of the week were Eastern Bank, LR Global Bangladesh Mutual Fund one, Central Pharmaceuticals, Beach Hatchery and Bangladesh Finance and Investment Company Limited.

The top five turnover leaders were Fortune Shoes, Monno Ceramics, Esquire Knit Composite Limited, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation and Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Limited.

Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the week up, with its major CASPI index ending 25.78 points higher at 16,186.55.
