Stocks close week down

Stocks on thursday finished the week down with falling trend of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges due to lower demand.

The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 55.23 points down at 5,266.18.The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 33.64 points down at 1,863.94 and with 12.74 points down at 1,214.87 respectively, reports BSS.

Out of the 353 issues traded at the DSE today, 96 issues gained against 224 losing issues.

During the week, the daily average trade value increased by 10.84 percent to Taka 341.57 crore and the average trade volume rose by 22.23 percent to 8.69 crore shares.

The top five gainers of the week were Standard Ceramic Industries Limited, Bangas Limited, National Life Insurance, Genex Infosys Limited and Daffodil Computers Limited.

The major losing issues of the week were Agrani Insurance Company, Provati Insurance Company, Aisa Insurance Company, Premier Power Generation and Distribution Company and United Power Generation and Distribution Company.

The top five turnover leaders were Fortune Shoes, Monno Ceramic Industries, United Power Generation and Distribution Company, Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company and National Tubes.

Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down with its major CASPI index ending 118.46 points lower at 16,264.95.
