‘Steps taken to prevent river erosion, water logging’

Deputy Minister of Water Resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shamim has said that steps have been taken to prevent river erosion and water logging across the country.

He said this while replying to question of journalists during his visit at proposed different projects at Matlab upazila in Chandpur on Saturday.

Enamul Hoque Shamim said that 65 areas have been identified across the country ahead of monsoon and flood. “In the meantime, we have already visited 22 river erosion areas. The number of officials in all river erosion areas has been increased,” he said.

He also visited DPP work project, Dhanagoda Irrigation project, river and canal dredging in the north of Chandpur. The projects are being implemented with a cost of Tk 5 hundred crore.

At that time, MP of Chandpur-2 constituency Nurul Amin Ruhul and high officials of the Water Development Board were present.
