Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday urged the people to get united against the evil forces as they become active in every August, the month of mourning. He termed the evil forces as more dangerous than the Adese mosquito and dengue fever, saying they can commit darkening bloodstained tragedy again in this month as the government is now busy with fighting against dengue.
“As per the prime minister’s directive, when the government has declared war against the Adese mosquito and dengue fever, and continued passing busy days round the clock, the evil force might take the chance for committing bloodstained tragedy again,” he said while inaugurating the AL’s awareness campaign to control dengue outbreak in city’s Shantinagar area.
Terming the present situation as very sensitive, he added that the initiative will be continued to make the people aware of the importance of cleanliness as long as the citizens are not safe from dengue. “Our leader Sheikh Hasina has ordered us to do everything in order to control the Adese mosquito and dengue fever. We are now carrying out her order. And the cleanliness programme of Awami League will be continued as long as the country’s people are not safe from dengue and free from Aedes mosquito,” he said.
He also asked the two city corporation mayors to do the best whatever is needed in order to control the Adese mosquitoes immediately. “I’m telling you (two mayors) not to pass your time in getting engaged in conducting examination and test only. I’m requesting you to do whatever is needed immediately,” Quader, also the minister for Road Transport and Bridges said.
He also urged the health and LGRD ministries and city corporations to work together through coordination. “I’m also requesting the all concerned authorities not to talk too much. We all will have to work in a coordinated way. Besides, we all should refrain from talking about something irrelevant that may create panic among people,” Quader said.
He said evil forces are out in the country to create anarchy in the name of dengue issue. Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon, Deputy Water Resource Minister AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, Awami League Joint General Secretary Abdur Rahman, Workers Party of Bangladesh president Rashed Khan Menon, among others were present.
