Secondary and Higher Secondary (SSC and HSC) examinations will be held even if the scheduled time is delayed by one or two months, the department of the Ministry of Education has informed.

Professor Nehal Ahmed, Chairman of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Sub-Committee and Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board on Wednesday said, "The syllabus for SSC and HSC has been shortened. It was decided to take SSC exam in June-July. However, it may be delayed for a month or two. But there will be examination, there is no doubt about it."

The education administration has come under a lot of criticism with the 'autopass' decision of last year's HSC and equivalent candidates. So for now, they are not thinking about autopass system in any big public exam.

In this context, Nehal Ahmed said, "It is wrong to call the way HSC candidates were passed last time as autopass. This is because they were fully prepared for the test. It is different for SSC and HSC this time as they could not go to classes. Therefore, the students will have to sit for the examination even if it is held with the short syllabus.''

Earlier, the Department of Education planned to take SSC after 60 days of classes and HSC after 80 days of classes.

This year's candidates are not going to sit for the exam without taking classes. Again, if the situation does not improve, the education administration is not willing to take the students directly to the classroom.

The education boards have already published the list of examination centers. The question papers have been prepared and sent to 'BG Press' already for printing. Besides, the Board of Education has almost completed all the preparations related to the examinations.

However, due to the surge in Coronavirus transmissions and deaths, the SSC exams have been postponed even though examination forms are still being filled up.

All types of educational institutions have been closed since March 17 last year after the outbreak of Coronavirus. After more than a year, they are set to be opened on May 23 this month.

The bodies concerned say that amid the current situation of pandemic, there is extreme uncertainty about whether the educational institution will be opened on May 23. Even if the educational institution is opened at that time, it will not be possible to take SSC and HSC examinations before August or September. But, if the educational institutions do not open soon again, it will be too late to take the exams.
