Shirin off to Kazakhstan to join speakers’ confce


Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury left Dhaka on Sunday for Kazakhstan to attend a conference titled ‘The 4th Meeting of Speakers of the Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments’, reports BSS.

The theme of the conference is “Greater Eurasia: Dialouge, Trust and Partnership”. Parliament Secretariat Senior Secretary Dr Zafar Ahmed Khan and other senior officials saw the Speaker off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital, an official release said. A Bangladesh delegation comprising lawmakers JS Whip Iqbalur Rahim, Abdullah Al Islam Jacob, Begum Sagufta Yasmin, Bodruddoza Md Farhad Hossain and Awami League Central Working Committee member Advocate ABM Riazul Kabir Kawsar, is accompanying the speaker. The conference will be held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan from September 23 to 24.

After that, the speaker will attend another conference titled ‘The 64th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference’ scheduled to be held from September 22 to 29 in Kampala, Uganda. Dr Shirin Sharmin will return home on September 28.
