Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury left for the USA on Thursday night to attend Parliamentary Forum at the 2019 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) and related meetings to be held in New York on July 13-18. Dr Shirin Sharmin will join as a discussant at a session “Growing Inequalities and Distrust in Government: Breaking the Cycle” at the UN Conference building on July 15, said a JS media release on Friday, reports BSS.
Other member of the Bangladesh delegation is JS secretariat senior secretary Dr Md Zafar Ahmed Khan. The HLPF is the United Nations hub for the global review of progress toward the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The main theme of the 2019 session is “Empowering people and ensuring inclusiveness and equality”. While assessing overall progress toward the SDGs, the session will pay special attention to SDGs 4, 8, 10, 13, 16 and 17.
