Six renowned personalities rewarded in Rajshahi

A total of six renowned personalities were awarded as recognition of their laudable social contribution in Rajshahi and the nation as well. The awardees are - Language Veteran and Valiant Freedom Fighter Advocate Golam Arif Tipu (Public Prosecution). Valiant Freedom Fighter Badiuzzaman Tunu (Liberation War), Prof Kayesh Uddin (Education), Sharmili Ahmed (Drama and Film), Monjushree Roy (Music) and Somor Paul (Archeology).

The Rajshahi Association arranged a reception for award winners at its conference hall in the city on Tuesday evening.

RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and Vice-chancellor of Rajshahi University Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar addressed the ceremony as the chief and special guests respectively, while Deputy Commissioner and President of Rajshahi Association Abdul Jalil was in the chair. Drama and Film Personalities Prof Rahmat Ali and Prof Wahida Mallik Jolly also spoke, while General Secretary of Rajshahi Association Dr Tasiqul Islam Raja welcomed the participants.

Appreciating the Rajshahi Association for awarding the renowned personalities, Mayor Liton expected the trend to continue in the years to come.

He also said there are needs of establishing Rajshahi City Museum and Archive and Art Gallery in Rajshahi and he is intended to work in this field.

Mayor Liton said Rajshahi City Corporation, Rajshahi University and Rajshahi Association should come forward and work together to take the Rajshahi forward collectively.
