BRAC founder and Chair Emeritus Sir Fazle Hasan Abed was laid to eternal rest on Sunday afternoon at the Banani Graveyard in the capital, reports BSS.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, one son and a host of relatives and admirers.
Earlier in the morning, people from all walks of life paid their last tribute to him on the Army Stadium premises in the capital today from 10.30am to 12.30pm, said a press release.
Delegations on behalf of President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh paid their homage by placing wreaths on Sir Abed’s coffin.
Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Mia and Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader paid tribute to Sir Abed on behalf of AL. While Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir paid tribute to him on behalf of BNP. Later, his Namaz-e-Janaza was held there at 12.46 pm. Sir Fazle Abed breathed his last at 8.28pm on Friday while undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospitals in Baridhara area.
