Bangladesh ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal thanked former national head coach Jamie Siddons’s for transforming his batting as he feels the tenure of the Australian was ‘turning point’ of his career, report agencies.

Tamim sat with pace bowler Rubel Hossain and Taskin Ahmed on a Facebook live session that is gaining popularity after he began the show on his official Instagram page initially before launching it on the Facebook to engage fans during this time of COVID 19 pandemics.

Pacer Rubel Hossain asked what the turning point of his career is when Tamim acknowledged the contribution of Jamie, whose contract was renewed after a poor World Cup on home soil 2011 as despite beating England, Bangladesh lost to West Indies, South Africa and India in the first round and failed to reach the quarter-finals.

In his three-and-a-half years at the helm, Siddons guided Bangladesh to 31 one-day international victories from 81 games but only won two Test matches out of 19.

‘’For me, I had this feeling almost in my first match against India in the 2007 World Cup. Because my starting was good,’’ said Tamim on Friday.

‘’But after that match, I had a big gap of not having a good match, I was doing just enough, so that, I can be in the main eleven.  But I wasn't able to do any big performance.

‘’I think if I say about my career turning point, then it was Jamie Siddons. When Jamie Siddons came, when I get the opportunity to work under him, the limitations I had I worked on there, I was able to increase the stroke play more, I worked on my weaknesses,’’ he said.

‘’So I think my turning point was from there where I worked under Jamie Siddons,’’ he said.
